A revitalized Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is his initial trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since March of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led some to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an better service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first professional title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued four initial break points in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
