Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the attack left him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
